Winning Projects

RISE : NYC winning projects represent a highly diverse group of some of the most promising resiliency innovations from around the world. Eleven teams were selected to receive a combined $30 million in funding to implement their projects at local small businesses that were impacted by Superstorm Sandy– ensuring that these businesses are better prepared for future storms, sea level rise and other effects of climate change.

The winning RISE : NYC projects include three categories of technologies:

  • Energy Technologies, including systems that provide clean, resilient power to small businesses, keeping them up and running even during grid failures
  • Building Systems, including solutions that improve the resiliency of critical building components before, during, and after a storm
  • Telecom Networks, including technologies that help small businesses stay connected and operating, even when traditional communication networks are down
